What is it about?
Stuck in training? Tough coaching sessions that lack the necessary ‘operating temperature’? An argument with your partner or best friend that leaves you speechless and gets you nowhere? What can you do?
‘Exactly the opposite’ is the motto of provocative dialogue. The provocative approach has its roots in Frank Farrally’s provocative therapy. Provocation in the sense of ‘eliciting’ and ‘teasing’ means using humour to awaken the spirit of contradiction in the interlocutor – especially in blocked situations – and to develop independence in the search for solutions.
Based on the motto ‘Laughing is the best medicine’, this approach was established by Frank Farrelly to promote new perspectives in therapies, among other things. Dr E. Noni Höfner from the D.I.P. (German Institute for Provocative Therapy) in Munich, together with her daughter Dr Charlotte Cordes, has further developed this approach into Provocative System Work (ProSA)®, Provocative Coaching® and Provocative Style®.
By using humour and paradoxical interventions while maintaining a trusting relationship with the other person, difficult and shameful topics can be dealt with more easily and quickly. In this training course (2 days live or 1 day online) you will gain an initial insight into the interaction of the principles of the Provocative Approach and learn how you can utilise this for yourself.

Objectives
- familiarising with the basic tools of the provocative approach and learning a repertoire of humorous and provocative reactions that suit you
- sensitise the perception of your counterpart
- learn how to reduce your own pressure to perform and to turn deadlocked situations around in an imaginative and courageous way
Content
- Working provocatively: Goals, background, requirements, limits of use
- The attitude of Advocatus Diaboli
- Provocative tools
- Interventions in theory and practice
Approach
Short trainer inputs, life work, perception, creativity and association exercises, improvisation exercises, conversation exercises using your own examples, reflection and tips for transfer
Your benefit
Through provocative interventions you mobilise the will to constructive change in your conversation partners and enable them to replace self-damaging behaviours with healthier ones.
By adopting a humorous and provocative attitude, you strengthen your courage to react in unusual ways and your self-confidence in your own emotional intelligence. This will help you to have fun and be more effective at work – a good preventative measure against the dreaded burn-out of committed helpers.
